3 month in to my son's new school year and i decided after getting a lot of subtle pressure from his Rebbe to finally start learning with him the Gemorah he is learning in school instead of Megillah.

We started on daf 8b, by the Mishnah, and we got stuck in the first piece of Gemorah as if there is a mitzvah to hit irrelevent if he is learning, it means that the hitting is not connected to the learning, if so why if he is teaching him another profession is hitting not a mitzvah?
